At this year's Shenzhen Cultural Industries Fair, I stopped by Wuxi Paper's booth and got a firsthand look at their new "Light Up a Better Life" collection. They've been working on these pieces for months, and it shows-they're reimagining traditional papermaking in a really thoughtful way.

What caught my eye first were the notebooks, all made from their custom seed paper. Unlike the usual smooth office paper, these feel a little textured, and when you hold them up to the light, you can just make out tiny flecks of seeds mixed into the recycled pulp. They're totally usable for writing-my pen glides fine, no smudging-and they come with a little note explaining what happens when you're done with them.

You just tear off a page, bury it in some potting soil, keep it watered and in sunlight, and before long, the seeds sprout. Some of the notebooks have herb seeds, others vegetable varieties. It's such a small, cool twist: what starts as a page for notes becomes something living. It's a quiet reminder of how paper can be more than just a surface-they're breathing new life into an old craft, one seed at a time.
