AC servo rotary paper cutter, also called a drum-type paper cutter, is industrial equipment that cuts large paper rolls into sheets.
In 1877, German engineer Friedrich Kruse invented the first rotary knife paper sheeter. He pioneered continuous rotary cutting. This technology greatly improved efficiency compared to manual guillotines cutting machines.
Early models (1920s–1940s) adopted electric drive and mechanical transmission, enabling semi-automatic operation with a precision of ±1.0mm.
From 1950s to 1980s, hydraulic systems and digital control were introduced. Hydraulic rotary cutters provided stable pressure. Microprocessors achieved automatic positioning with a precision of ±0.5mm.
Since the 2000s, servo-driven rotary cutters have become mainstream. Their cutting precision is ±0.2mm and speeds up to 300m/min. The core components adapts 45# steel .
